According to Atabe News, Fouad Izadi, a University of Tehran professor and a member of the presidium of the International Conference on “Champions of Struggle in Exile,” made these remarks during the conference's opening ceremony.
He said that US hostility toward Iran is an undeniable reality, but the main question is where this hostility is heading. If the United States is on a path of decline and Iran maintains its resistance, the gradual weakening of the adversary will change the circumstances. Conversely, if the United States preserves or expands its power, different considerations will shape the challenges facing Iran.
Referring to a recent speech by the US Secretary of State in Athens, Izadi said that the American official had linked the country's civilizational roots to ancient Greece. By revisiting the historical confrontation between Athens and the Iranians, he had spoken about the need for the West to learn from that experience in confronting today's challenges.
Izadi added that the US Secretary of State had also referred to European maritime expeditions and the expansion of European influence around the world, describing an era that laid the foundations for the West's growth and dominance. Although he did not use the word “colonialism,” Izadi said he believed the proposed approach amounted to repeating the colonial experience in order to preserve the West's position.
The University of Tehran professor continued that the US official had outlined a ten-year window for this course of action, warning that Western countries would face decline if they failed to draw lessons from the past and manage the situation. Therefore, he said, the debate over America's decline is not merely political rhetoric; signs of concern about it can also be seen in statements by senior Western officials.
Referring to assessments by US intelligence agencies concerning the future distribution of global power, Izadi said these assessments point to a shift toward networks and alliances, and to a world in which no single dominant power will be able to determine outcomes on its own.
Emphasizing Iran's resistance to US dominance, he said the opposing side views this confrontation through a civilizational lens and believes it has found an opportunity to resolve the issue of Iran. For this reason, he stressed, it is important to recognize that Iran itself is the target of this confrontation.
The conference presidium member referred to remarks made by the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution (may God sanctify his pure soul) on 12 Bahman, describing the disillusionment of the United States as a way to counter this approach. He emphasized that the Americans must come to realize that Iran is beyond their capacity to subdue and that they cannot achieve their objectives against the country.
At the end of his remarks, Izadi praised the efforts of those striving to thwart the enemies of Iran and expressed his appreciation for their activities.
