According to Atabe News, Mohammad Mohaqqeq Baygi, a student at Unit 4 High School, won the national silver medal in the Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Olympiad after successfully passing all four stages of the national scientific competitions.
The national scientific Olympiads are held annually in four stages. The first stage takes place in February at upper secondary schools across the country's provinces, with approximately 1,000 students selected in each field to advance to the second stage.
The second stage is held every year in May, when around 40 students in each field are selected to proceed to the next stage, which consists of a summer training camp. This stage involves an intensive and highly competitive program in which students who have qualified in the national second stage receive training from leading university professors and prepare for a more challenging examination. At the end of the program, the top-performing students are awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively.
The Deputy for Education and Research of the Razavi Cultural Foundation organized 30 specialized sessions based on the reference materials for each Olympiad field to prepare students selected for the first stage. Eight English-language sessions were also arranged for students who advanced to the second stage.
It is worth noting that the National Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Olympiad is one of the specialized scientific competitions for students. It covers topics such as the fundamental concepts of nanotechnology, nanomaterials and nanostructures, the properties of materials at the nanoscale, methods of nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, and applications of this technology in various fields. The competition provides an opportunity to assess students’ specialized knowledge, analytical skills, and ability to apply their scientific learning.
