Sarakhs Special Economic Zone’s logistics site for petroleum products reaches 95% progress

Under-construction logistics site for petroleum products at Sarakhs Special Economic Zone has reached 95 percent of physical progress, says Mohammad Reza Kalaei, CEO of the zone, adding, the project is going to be launched in three months.

Kalaei said: “All infrastructure-based measures of the project have been taken and we are going through process of issuing the ending certificate of the project”.

Referring to the moves taken by the Iranian government and parliament to change the economic zone into a free trade zone, he also mentioned: “Loading and unloading of petroleum products in Sarakhs is really important as it is considered a gateway for connecting CIS countries to Europe and India”. 

He also stressed: “Russian export of oil and gas products to Afghanistan and Pakistan through Sarakhs zone, taking west’s sanctions into account, has added to the importance of this zone”.

CEO of Sarakhs Special Economic Zone added: “Using the logistics site of fuel products, it will be possible to unload, load and store oil and gas cargoes as well as load and store dry goods in the zone”.

Kalaei further noted: “Another important advantage of this project is its proximity to wide railways of Central Asia, which makes transfer operations from wagons to tank as well as from trucks to tanks easier and in short time”.

Referring to the zone’s strive for giving best kind of services and facilities to the investors, he stated: “All stages of this project from design to implementation have been done by domestic capacities”.

Concluding his remarks, Kalaei said: “The project provides 21 direct and 50 indirect job opportunities for the young people particularly the native ones”.
