Canadian Muslim dedicates his stamps collection to Imam Reza shrine’s museum

Khalil Jafar, a Canadian Muslim, has dedicated an ancient and valuable collection including 100 envelops and stamps as well as a catalog of Canadian stamps to the treasury of stamps and coins of Imam Reza holy shrine’s Central Museum.

Stamps given by this Canadian national who is originally from Kenia turn back to the years between 1815 and 2023.

Khalil decided to make this dedication when he visited Mashhad and got familiar with the Central Museum of Imam Reza shrine 15 years ago.

In an interview with the press, he also invited other world’s collectors to hand over their valuable collections to this museum with peace of mind.

He also mentioned: “Museums are usually plundered during wars and instabilities; this is not right about Imam Reza shrine’s museum at all, however. Moreover, all items are put into public display with the name of their presenter”.

Talking about details of this collections, Hossein Yazdinejad, responsible of the treasury of stamps and coins of the museum, said: “The collection includes sealed envelopes from England, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, the island of Jersey in England, and some other African countries. These items have images of endangered wildlife, butterflies, local clothes, and traditional objects”.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Yazdinejad referred to the oldest envelop in this collection and said: “The oldest sealed envelope of this collection comes from Zanzibar which is now under sovereignty of today’s Tanzania. This envelope was using as a postal item in 1937 and is one of the rare envelopes in collections of these days collectors”.
