Indonesian university lecturers visit Imam Reza shrine; mutual cooperation discussed

A group of seven lecturers and scholars from Indonesian universities have paid a visit to Imam Reza shrine in northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad, and sat for talks with Deputy Office for International Affairs.

Speaking in the meeting with Indonesian professors from Chiruban, Al-Ahya, and Paramedina universities, Hoj Mostafa Faqih Esfandyari, deputy for international affairs, condemned the atrocities of the Israeli regime against the people of Gaza, and hoped that justice should prevail in the world.

Describing the people of Indonesia as God-believing and ethical, he added: “I hope you and the Indonesian public adopt a wise stance in support of the Palestinians”.

“Our enemies have stood by Israel, why should we not support Palestine!” said Hoj Mostafa Faqih Esfandyari.

Noting that Al-Ahya Institute is rooted in Quranic teachings, he stated: “You professors, are responsible for reviving people spirit and thinking, which is, in fact, a continuation of the Prophet’s life and conduct”.

The deputy for international affairs of the shrine hoped that an MoU would be signed with the Indonesian institute in terms of students and professors exchange.

The head of Al-Ahya Institute, for his part, pointed to the shared stance of Iran and Indonesia in fighting oppression.

Extending an invitation to representatives of Imam Reza shrine, Dr. Sufian Sahuri also suggested that joint scientific events should be held between the two sides.

Elsewhere in the meeting, it was suggested that books published by the shrine be translated into Indonesian.
