1m digital references donated to Imam Reza shrine library

Imam Reza shrine digital library announced that some one million digital references have been added to it database since last year.

Director of Imam Reza library digital section, Mahdi Karimi, said that the donations by some charitable figures would be a great step towards the expansion of digital sources and better accessibility via the digital library.

Karimi estimated the value of the references to be around $28,000, which include digital copies of manuscripts, periodicals, etc., partially supplied by Hazrat Ma’soumeh shrine, National Library and Iran Institute.

“On average, some 250 researchers use the digital services of the shrine electronic library every month”, said Ali Zarrabi, head of cyber space in Organization of Libraries, Museums and Documents.

Explaining that the electronic library was launched in 2010 in a bid to facilitate the public’s access to digital services, Ali Zarrabi noted that currently the electronic and digital services are available for both Iranians and non-Iranians.

“Some one million digital sources on different subjects such as Islamic Science, and exquisite books are available for the public on disks”, added he.

Zarrabi also said that those who would like to use online services of the electronic library should visit https://digital.aqr.ir.
