Historic steel shrine artifacts unveiled at Imam Reza Shrine Museum

Newly identified components of Imam Reza’s historic steel shrine unveiled in a cultural ceremony honoring Hazrat Masumeh’s birth anniversary.

As part of the 240th Scientific and Cultural Wednesdays program, Imam Reza Shrine Museum unveiled newly identified historical components of the steel shrine.
The event, held in the Carpet Museum of the shrine, coincided with the start of the Karamat Ten-Day celebrations and the birth anniversary of Hazrat Masumeh (Imam Reza’s sister).
Organized by Astan Quds Razavi’s Libraries, Museums and Documents Organization, and supported by the endowments department, the ceremony gathered scholars, experts, and visitors to witness the event.
According to Hoj. Seyyed Jalal Hosseini, head of the organizing body, “Hazrat Masumeh held an esteemed status in Islamic history, and her journey to visit Imam Reza was an act of deep insight and devotion”.
He also announced plans to establish a dedicated archive of historical documents from the shrine to offer visitors direct access to its rich heritage.
Elsewhere in the event, university researcher Seyyed Masoud Seyyed Bonakdar provided insights into his studies documenting shrine relics, including the intricate process of identifying the shrine’s precious artifacts through historical records, endowment documents, and archival photographs.
Also, Mehdi Gheysari Nik, the deputy of the shrine’s museum and cultural treasury, detailed the newly unveiled pieces now on display in the shrine’s historical museum, located in the Kowsar Courtyard.
Among the notable artifacts are gilded finials donated by Qajar prince Mohammad Qoli Mirza, silver lamps endowed by Sahib-Divan, and a set of four dual-branch silver candlesticks donated by Nayshabur’s governor Sultan Hossein Mirza Nayer al-Dowleh and his wife, Shams al-Saltaneh.
Additional items include copper-gilded vases, inscribed brass panels, and decorative gemstone-studded finials historically placed atop the shrine.
