Imam Reza Shrine hosts West Asian women’s Ashura conference

Arabic-speaking scholars gather at Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran, to honor the legacy of Hazrat Zeinab and women’s role in Islamic culture.

On the Wednesday traditionally associated with Imam Reza, Imam Reza Shrine welcomed distinguished Arabic-speaking women from across West Asia for a spiritual and cultural gathering titled “Ashura Women.”
Organized by the West Asia division of the Deputy Office for Non-Iranian Pilgrims’ Affairs, the event was held in Dar al-Rahmah Portico and aimed to celebrate the role of women in promoting Islamic teachings and raising spiritually committed generations.
More than 100 devout and accomplished women from Iraq, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Syria attended the conference.
The keynote speaker, Ms. Taghrid Mohammad Jouni from Lebanon, highlighted the inspirational legacy of Hazrat Zeinab, emphasizing: “Her role was pivotal in nurturing values and guiding future generations”.
“Hazrat Zeinab’s life was a timeless model of awakening, resilience, and loyalty to divine leadership”, she described.
The ceremony also featured a moving devotional recitation by Ms. Raja Umm Hadi from Bahrain, filling the portico with expressions of love and reverence for the Ahl al-Bayt.
Beyond its spiritual depth, the event served as a symbol of cultural solidarity among Ashura-inspired women of the region—women who, following the example of Hazrat Zeinab, carry the responsibility of preserving the message of Karbala and cultivating a faithful, revolutionary generation.
