Sarakhs Special Economic Zone expands railway network

Sarakhs Special Economic Zone (SEZ) inaugurates development of a railway project in its energy site, having a number of provincial officials in attendance.

Speaking on the sideline of the inauguration ceremony, Mohammad Reza Rajabi Moghadam, CEO of Sarakhs Special Economic Zone said: “Expansion of railway network is a priority for SEZ and this project is on the agenda for complete fulfillment of the chain of road and logistics infrastructure”.
Rajabi Moghadam added: “This project has been carried out with an initial investment of IRR 700bn and its main advantage is that all investors and private sector sites located in the energy phase are directly connected to the zone's internal network and international lines.
He added: “These projects strengthen role of SEZ as country's logistics hub. They are also considered an important step towards balanced development of the region and creation of sustainable employment”.
CEO of Sarakhs Special Economic Zone went on to say: This project has been completed in 6 months. Development of transportation infrastructure and creation of an advanced logistics village are important plans ahead of us. Also, we are seeking to create an integrated ecosystem that can fully cover the commercial needs of the international corridor”.
According to Rajabi Moghadam, with SEZ’s access to wide Central Asian railway network and international lines, an internal railway network of 51 kilometers, and existence of multi-purpose private sector terminals and appropriate infrastructure in the field of logistics transportation, Sarakhs Special Economic Zone has a potential to become Iran’s logistics and transportation industry hub”.
