Iraqi consul general, Imam Reza shrine’s deputy for intl. affairs discuss broadening cooperation

Iraqi consul general in Mashhad, Dr. Maher Alvan, and Imam Reza holy shrine’s deputy for international affairs, Hoj. Faqih Esfandiari, have discussed possible ways for promoting level of bilateral cooperation in a meeting in Mashhad.

Offering a brief introduction on different activities of the Deputy Office for International Affairs, Hoj. Esfandiari emphasized on more common cultural, economic, and academic interactions between the two sides saying, “The deputy office is continuously monitoring technical agreements between Endowment Beneficiary Foundation the holy shrine and Iraqi companies”.

He also referred to the measures taken for removing problems of Iraqi students in Iran. “We have done our best to create a situation to help Iraqi students continue their education without any problem”.

Speaking for his part, Iraqi official pointed to the economic cooperation between the two sides, saying: “Taking into account Iraqi government’s need for reconstruction, economic affiliations to Imam Reza shrine can have good investments in Iraq especially in food and dairy industries, infrastructure services, and development and construction projects”.

Dr. Maher Alvan added: “Millions of Iraqis use Iranian products particularly those of breakfast meal every day. Feature of Halal has added to the popularity of Iranian products”.

Concluding his remarks the Iraqi diplomat said, “With respect to the Iraqi people's extreme welcome of Iranian food products, it would be very good for economic affiliations of Imam Reza shrine to build and run their own factories in the cities of Najaf, Karbala and Basra”.
