Talking about details of donation, Hoj. Faqih Esfandiari, holy shrine’s deputy for international affairs, said: “The donor of this translation who is living in India has done his Master’s and PhD in London and in Egypt’s al-Azhar University respectively”.
Hoj. Faqih Esfandiari further stated: “This Indian translator is one of our Sunni brothers who has translated Quran by taking an approximation viewpoint into account”.
He went on to say: “This university professor has offered his only copy of translation to Imam Reza shrine so that it can be widely published and distributed among interested people. Attention to interpretation points and employing an approximating method are two features of this translation which has made it a unique work”.
Praising the move, Hoj. Esfandiari said: “This action will be welcomed by English speaking people and it will be published after doing necessary checks in a limited number at first stage and in a large number in the next stages”.
Imam Reza shrine deputy for international affairs referred to recent desecrations of holy Quran, saying: “This move is a response to these anti-Islam actions in the West; producing as well as publishing these translations will get world people acquainted with this holy book”.
He also stated: “This donation by a Sunni Muslim shows affection and love of Sunni Muslims toward Imam Reza (AS) and high capacity of this shrine in the Islamic world”.
