Dozens more works in Imam Reza museum registered nationally

Thirty-two precious items kept in Imam Reza shrine museum have been registered nationally, bringing the total number to ۶۵.

According to Hoj. Seyyed Jalal Hosseini, head of Organization of Libraries, Museums and Documents, a number of Quranic manuscripts dating as far back as 4 th century AD made up a part of the newly- registered works. Among these exquisite items, there are also a couple of old brass astrolabes dating back to 13 th century and Safavid Era (1501-1736), a sundial (12 th C.), the gate of Imam Reza shrine (13 th C.), a couple of precious prayer rugs, etc. “National registration of the precious items in Imam Reza shrine started in 2019 with Imam Reza prayer being the first registered item in the inventory of the nation’s cultural and spiritual heritage”, expressed Hosseini.

Head of Organization of Libraries, Museums and Documents further pointed to 15 works registered in 2020, 17works in 2021, which included medals of Iranian Olympic Gold-Medalist wrestler Gholamreza Takhti, adding that “Imam Reza museums broke a record in ۲۰۲۲ with these ۳۲ items being registered nationally”.

He concluded his remarks by stating that measures were underway to register some special religious rituals in the shrine in the inventory of the country’s spiritual heritage.
