Pilgrimage researches must be practical, effective

Addressing the audience in the International Conference of Theology of Pilgrimage in Mashhad, Imam Reza holy shrine’s custodian, Hoj. Ahmad Marvi, underscores necessity and importance of practical as well as effective researches in religious sciences.

Hoj. Marvi said: “Outcomes of conferences focused on pilgrimage and spiritualities must not end in supplication of libraries’ shelves, rather researches must continue their lives in the society and led to the movement of the society toward a better life”.

He stated: “It is necessary for the intellectuals to think of the necessary measures and programs so that these researches are extended in the society, so that need for pilgrimage is promoted and placed in the basket of people's lives”.

Referring to a tradition from Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) highlighting importance of pilgrimage, custodian of Imam Reza holy shrine further noted: “Imam Reza shrine is not only the shrine of an honorable person; we believe that the Imam (AS) is present and alive in this sacred place, according to the verses and traditions. Here, we are not only benefiting from the holy body of the Imam (AS), but all the other ways that representative of God is responsible for the education, prosperity and guidance of the society.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, he mentioned: “Enemies of spirituality and supporters of secularism widely denounce pilgrimage today. They and their media do not cover Arbaeen which is a really giant spiritual event; the same group cover materialistic ones, however”.

Hoj. Marvi concluded his remarks and said: “In order to defend spiritual and religious spheres that deal with human nature, one should take an aggressive attitude and foil the conspiracies and plans of the ill-wishers”.

Two-day International Conference of Theology of Pilgrimage is held by Islamic Research Foundation and a number of Iranian research centers on 15th and 16th of November 2023 in Imam Reza shrine.
