As a keynote speaker of the scientific gathering, Hoj. Mohammad Javad Nowrouzi, talked about the relation between justice and Islamic government based on Imam Reza’s (AS) teachings, saying “Justice is an Imam-based issue in Imam Reza’s (AS) point of view and the ruler is the main accountable for supplying it when we are talking about realm of governance”.

Covering a number of specialized rubrics under the main concept of justice, he added: “With respect to the necessity of eradication of oppression within the governmental structures, If the political system is not based on Imamate, it will lead to oppression. Such a political system is not endorsed by Islam as it lacks justice”.

Also in the same meeting, Hoj. Seyyed Sajjad Izadi referred to the principles and basics of political justice in Imam Reza’s (AS) teaching and stated: “In a debate between Imam Reza (AS) and a salient Jewish scholar, Imam Reza (AS) refers to justice seeking approach and not committing sins as two key characters of an Imam”.

Hoj. Izadi added: “Imam Reza (AS) introduces resisting against the oppression as another feature of an Imam and says that the condition of justice is not only non-commitment of oppression, but also non-silence in the face of an ongoing oppression”.

Addressing the audience, Hoj. Rasekhi, an assistant professor of al-Mustafa University and the third lecturer of the session elaborated on the relation between justice and expediency in Imam Reza’s (AS) view point and said: “The meaning of expediency in political philosophy refers to a ruling issued by an Imam (AS). This may appear contrary to the principles; however, it is realized in accordance with the time and place requirements”.

Hoj. Rasekhi further stressed: “When facing with Mamun as the most cunning ruler of the Bani Abbas family, Imam Reza (AS) took an smart confrontation approach and manifested social expediency of the Islamic society. The expedient approach of the Imam (AS) made his resistant approach victorious by preventing from creation of a rift between the Imam (AS) and the Shia community”.

He added: “In fact, Imam’s smart explanation jihad prevented Islam from danger and delegitimized the Abbasid dynasty”.
