Shrine facilitates pilgrimage for elderlies, people with disabilities employing wheelchairs, vans

Imam Reza holy shrine’s Deputy Office for Pilgrims’ Services has facilitated pilgrimage for elderlies and people with disabilities by employing 2500 wheelchairs and 70 electrical vans inside the complex.

Deputy Office for Pilgrims’ Services has had a special attention to movements of the old and handicapped people considering large distance between entrance gates and the holy chamber alongside increasing expansion of shrine’s spaces and its high number of pilgrims.

These services are given by servants from Mashhad and other Iranian cities in different shifts 24/7. 70 Special vans ease inter-shrine movements of pilgrims in six various routes; services of 2500 wheelchairs are given in two forms of deposit and mobile ones. Services of mobile wheelchairs are rendered by servants of the complex and the deposit ones are those lent to pilgrims for three consecutive hours.

At the present time, about 4 thousand and 200 servants from Mashhad cooperate with this section and their number reach 600 per day.

The number of provincial servants of the section differs according to special occasions of the year, but it can be said that around 300 provincial servants are active ever day.
