Imam Reza shrine plays vital role in pharmaceutical industry, helps self-sufficiency

Samen Company is one of the heavyweights in the Iranian Pharmaceutical industry with over three decades of active role in various pharmaceutical products such as strategic and monopolized medicines. The company is affiliated with the Endowment Beneficiary Foundation of Imam Reza shrine and has always played a fundamental role in making the country self-reliant in pharmaceutical demands since the victory of 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Samen pharmaceutical Company has been established in 1992, in Mashhad (northeast Iran) to produce small, medium and large volume solutions for injection and irrigation.

Currently, the company is capable of producing more than 90 products, 50 of which have been produced for the first time in Iran. These products include nutritional solutions, mineral supplements, electrolytes, dialysis solutions, anticoagulants, etc.

LVPs (large volume parenteral) and antibiotics are considered the most strategic product of Samen Company.

Medications for incurable diseases are also high on Samen’s agenda. To this end, since 1995, the company has embarked on producing Peritoneal Dialysis solutions to replace Hemodialysis for kidney failure. In fact, Samen has the monopoly of these solutions and provides intensive care for patients suffering from acute kidney conditions.

Samen Company also has paid attention to special healthcare needs in society, which has made it stand out among other rival companies. For instance, Sodium Chloride-Irrigation is the first and most necessary medication for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) patients, which had even been rarely imported in the past; and Cardioplegic Solution and Plasmalyte Solution are two essential solutions for open heart surgery.
