The signed document also covers cooperation in other areas such as development of electronic sources, digital library, and maintaining as well as protection of library sources.
Appreciating nice hospitality of the organization, professor Eiji Sagawa said: “With respect to the religious importance of Imam Reza holy shrine, this center enjoys a scientific and cultural importance which is really admirable”.
Professor Sagawa stated: “Promoting ties with Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Center has highly upgraded position of our university in the field of Islam and Iranian studies all over Japan”.
He added: “Although Library of Asian Studies are the first one in terms of having sources related to Islam and Iran, we are still trying to comprehend Islamic sources; we are eager to promote our position in this area through cooperation with holy shrine’s Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Center”.
Speaking on his part, Hoj. Seyyed Jalal Hosseini, head of the organization, admired hardworking nature of the Japanese society and said: “Culture and civilization are two paramount features of Iranian society. These two features have created this 1100-year-old library which is the biggest endowment-based collection in the world”.
Hoj. Hosseini said: “Imam Reza holy shrine’s library is ready to have cooperation with scientific centers throughout the world”.
He expressed his hope that more introduction of Islam to the world can be outcome of this memorandum of understanding.
Cooperation between introduced experts and researchers in the areas of education and researches related to fields such as documentation, information science, editing of manuscripts and documents, translation and publication are among the provisions of this memorandum of understanding.
Also, creation and sharing of digital collections on topics of interest are among other provisions of this memorandum.
