Custodian of Imam Reza shrine congratulates Iran’s president-elect

The Custodian of Imam Reza shrine has sent a congratulatory message to the president-elect of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, who won the presidential race in a run-off on July 5.

Hoj Ahmad Marvi addressed Mr. Pezeshkian in his message, congratulating him for his victory in Iran’s 14th presidential election, the first round of which was held on June 28, but the two candidates with the most votes headed into a run-off slated for July 5, as none of them secured %50 of the votes plus one.
In the message, the shrine’s head cherished the late martyred President Ebrahim Raeisi for his years of tireless service, both as president and former custodian of Imam Reza shrine.
He pointed to the remarks of Ayat Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in his order to the shrine, saying: “Accordingly, the shrine deems it a primary duty to cooperate with all the administrations”.
He further referred to the concept of pilgrimage and urged that facilitation of pilgrimage for millions of Iranian and non-Iranian pilgrims be put high on the in-coming administration.
