1st Intl. Crowd Disaster and Risk Management conference held in Mashhad

The 1st international Crowd Disaster and Risk Management (CDRM) conference was held in Mashhad Innovation Factory, northeast Iran, organized by the Civil Defense Center of Imam Reza shrine in collaboration with Mashhad Municipality and Khayyam University.

According to Mohammad Sedghi, head of the Civil Defense Center of the shrine, “The conference aimed to promote and develop a culture of civil defense, enhance public and specialized training, preparedness, and awareness regarding new achievements and emerging threats”.
Under the central theme of “Civil Defense: Today’s Strategy, Tomorrow’s Security,” the conference served as an opportunity for managers and experts, especially in religious sites, to exchange experiences, challenges, solutions, and introduce new technologies in crowd disaster and risk management.
Sedghi emphasized the necessity of managing crowds in religious sites and called for cooperation of all governmental and national institutions to address the challenges faced by pilgrims.
A number of university professors from Iraq, Italy, Pakistan, and Canada participated in the event.
Also Dr. Ebrahim Barati, President of Khayyam University, Brig. Gen. Azarian, Senior Advisor to the Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Army Ground Forces (NEZAJA), Mustafa Haider, Deputy of Planning at the Shrine of Imam Ali in Iraq, etc. delivered speeches in the conference.
The conference began on October 30 and will continue for two days, featuring workshops where experts in the field will engage in discussions and exchange of views.
