Briefing the press on the sideline of the ceremony, Mohammad Reza Rajabi Moghaddam, CEO of the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone, said: “The MoU has been signed for bilateral cooperation in the area of logistics and trade”.
He added: “One of the important goals behind this MoU is to create a logistics and trade triangle between the east, west and southeast of the country, namely Sarakhs, Chabahar and Maku free zones. In the first phase, the MoU was signed between Maku and Sarakhs zones in 6 clauses”.
Rajabi Moghaddam further noted: “Another key goal of this document is to establish a working group for developing international corridors passing through Iran as well as creating a platform for prosperity of transport and export promotion in the country. With the completion of part of the rail route in the near future in northwest region of the country, the transit rate will be increased by 20 million tons”.
The signing ceremony was held on the sideline of the 28th ECO Council of Ministers Meeting in Mashhad.
Officials of Sarakhs Special Economic Zone and Maku Free Zone have signed a memorandum of understanding in Mashhad for additional cooperation with Iran’s foreign minister and Khorasan Razavi province’s governor general in attendance.
