Imam Reza shrine provides Nowruz hospitality for Arabic, Urdu, and English-speaking pilgrims

The shrine welcomes non-Iranian pilgrims with dedicated porticoes and tailored programs during Nowruz and Ramadan.

Imam Reza shrine is hosting an unprecedented number of non-Iranian pilgrims this Nowruz, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan.
Hoj. Seyed Mohammad Zolfaghari, Director of Non-Iranian Pilgrims at Astan Quds Razavi, announced special measures to accommodate pilgrims from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
Historically, the number of non-Iranian visitors has declined during Nowruz due to extended holidays and travel challenges. However, this year, with the sacred Nights of Qadr (Nights of Destiny – 19th, 21st, and 23rd of Ramadan), the presence of pilgrims from abroad has increased significantly.
Dedicated spaces include Dar-al-Rahmah and Dar-al-Hidayah porticoes for Arabic speakers, Ghadir Portico for Urdu-speaking pilgrims, and Dar-al-Tafsir Portico for Azerbaijani pilgrims.
In a new initiative, Melal Portico has been allocated to English-speaking visitors. Programs in English, both in-person and virtual, feature distinguished scholars, Quran reciters, and orators from countries like Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, and the UK. These sessions have received overwhelming responses from international pilgrims.
