Imam Reza shrine welcomed thousands of pilgrims for the 19th night of Ramadan, a night regarded as superior to a thousand months.
With copies of the Quran placed on their heads, visitors prayed for forgiveness and blessings, reflecting on the martyrdom of Imam Ali, the 1st Shia Imam.
The courtyards were filled with mournful eulogies as pilgrims commemorated Imam Ali, the father of the Shi’a faith, who devoted his life to the revival of Islamic principles.
This year, coinciding with Nowruz, the ceremonies embraced a unifying spirit, drawing Muslims and Shi’a from diverse backgrounds, including international pilgrims.
As described by a visitor from Tehran, the shrine's atmosphere closely resembled Najaf’s holy aura, connecting hearts with the legacy of Imam Ali through heartfelt elegies.
Special programs began at 20:30, featuring Quranic recitation, followed by the soul-stirring supplication of Joshan Kabir prayer. Poignant eulogies left participants reflective and teary-eyed.
Ayat. Seyed Ahmad Alamolhoda, the Leader’s Representative in Khorasan Razavi Province, delivered a sermon emphasizing that the essence of life is seeking proximity to God while overcoming worldly obstacles and sin.
Meanwhile, the shrine's courtyards were filled with “Ya Rab” (O’ God) chants as pilgrims, moved by the memory of Imam Ali and the sanctity of the 19th Ramadan, joined in rituals that symbolized solidarity and devotion. A heartfelt Quran-on-head ceremony culminated in collective prayers for divine forgiveness and mercy.
The shrine also witnessed moments of interfaith unity, with Muslims and Shi’a from Lebanon, Yemen, and Palestine coming together to pray for peace and justice, demonstrating the global connection through the Imams. The inclusive ceremonies fostered solidarity and showcased the shrine as a spiritual nexus for lovers of Imamat and Wilayat.
