Imam Reza shrine hosts commemorative ceremony for Imam Ali's martyrdom

On the 21st of Ramadan, Imam Reza shrine hosted a special ceremony marking the anniversary of Imam Ali’s martyrdom

The ceremony took place in Imam Khomeini Portico, where Hoj. Abdulhamid Vaez Shahidi delivered a sermon reflecting on Quranic verse 31:14: "And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination."

Underlining the significance of parents' rights, particularly those of mothers, and their fundamental role in a child's life, Shahidi noted that honoring parents is an absolute religious duty without any condition, applicable even to non-Muslim parents.

Shahidi highlighted the teachings of Imam Sadiq, who identified kindness to parents as one of the most virtuous deeds after prayer. He further explained that disregarding parents' rights could result in divine mercy being withheld.

In his discourse, Shahidi explored interpretations of the Quranic verse that extends the meaning of "parents" to encompass spiritual leaders such as Imam Ali and Prophet Muhammad.

“Neglecting religious teachings and failing to follow the guidance of the Imams alienate believers from God's blessings”, he warned.

The program also included poignant elegies and laments as attendees mourned Imam Ali's martyrdom.

The evocative recitations moved the audience deeply, providing an opportunity for pilgrims to connect spiritually and seek solace at the holy shrine.
