On the 6th day of Muharram, the courtyards of Imam Reza shrine were filled with hundreds of devoted teenagers participating in the “Ahla Min al-Asal” ceremony, commemorating Hazrat Qassem bin Hasan—the youthful martyr of Karbala.
Wearing headbands inscribed with “Labbaik Ya Tharallah” and holding Iranian flags alongside banners of “Labbaik Ya Hussein,” the youth gathered with hearts full of love and faith to honor the memory of Hazrat Qassem, whose sacrifice is remembered as “sweeter than honey.”
The ceremony began with a Quranic recitation, followed by emotional elegies from teenage performers. The heartfelt verses stirred the crowd, evoking the sorrow and spirit of Karbala.
Hoj. Seyyed Kazem Rouhbaksh, the keynote speaker, reflected on how Hazrat Qassem would act in today’s world, emphasizing: “His kindness and popularity rooted in good family conduct”.
He urged the youth to channel their energy with purpose, uphold their ideals with courage, and strive for excellence through creativity and goal-setting.
Rouhbaksh also highlighted: “Responsible digital engagement, encouraging the youth to use social media to promote values aligned with the teachings of Imam Mahdi and humanity are of paramount importance”.
He stressed the need for connection with like-minded individuals and the pursuit of knowledge to build a brighter future.
He concluded by saying: “ Today’s generation must embody the spirit of Hazrat Qassem—motivated, knowledgeable, and articulate in defending the ideals of Imam Hussein”.
The ceremony reached its emotional peak as chants of “Labbaik Ya Hussein” and “Labbaik Ya Hasan” echoed through the shrine, symbolizing the continuation of Ali Akbar’s path and the readiness of a new generation to sacrifice for truth and leadership.
Though cultural in format, the event was a powerful social gathering of an aware and devoted generation—one that truly understands the meaning of “Ahla Min al-Asal” (sweeter honey) and proclaims with conviction: Martyrdom is sweeter than honey, if it is in the path of Hussein.
