Officials from AQR, Chelyabinsk of Russia explore avenues for more cultural ties

Officials from Imam Reza Shrine’s Office for Foreign Pilgrims’ Affairs and Chelyabinsk of Russia exchanged views on boosting cultural ties between the two sides in an official visit to the shrine by the Russian delegation, consisting of Glukharev Dmitry Sergeyevich, Minister of International and Interregional Cooperation of Chelyabinsk, along with a representative from Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting aimed at boosting cultural and international relations as well as strengthening pilgrimage diplomacy. The visit included a tour of Azadi, Enghelab, and Jomhouri Eslami courtyards of the shrine of Imam Reza (AS).

Attending Melal Portico of the shrine, the Russian delegation met with Mehdi Lesani, manager of the Office for Foreign Pilgrims’ Affairs and discussed over capacities for joint cooperation in sending pilgrims and religious tourists from Russia to Mashhad.

Members of the Russian delegation, while expressing their satisfaction with this visit, emphasized their readiness to develop cultural relations and strengthen spiritual ties between two countries.

The Russian delegation also were provided with some explanations about history and architecture of the complex as well as cultural, social, and international activities of Astan Quds Razavi.

This meeting concluded with presentation of blessed cultural and religious gifts to the Russian guests.
