Arbaeen, proud demonstration of Islamic Ummah’s solidarity: Custodian

The Custodian of Imam Reza shrine has expressed gratitude to the Iraqi nation and custodians of holy shrines in the country for their unswerving support to facilitate Arbaeen pilgrimage.

In his trip to partake in Arbaeen march in Iraq, Hoj Ahmad Marvi sat for talks with the custodians of Imam Ali, Imam Hussain and Hazrat Abbas shrines in three separate meetings.

Appreciating the warm hospitality of the Iraqi nation, Hoj Marvi said: “Solidarity and affection among people regardless of their national, racial, ethnic backgrounds, and detachment from the material world is matchlessly manifested in Arbaeen”.

“Arbaeen is a witness that Imam Hussain’s movement isn’t restricted to one era, it’s rather a stream from the most profound Islamic teachings, which survives forever”, added he.

The custodian of Imam Reza shrine in northeastern Iranian city of Mashhad praised the efficient management of the Arbaeen pilgrimage, noting: “managing such a huge event with millions of pilgrims is a difficult task that resulted in projecting a civilized and proud picture of solidarity of the Islamic Ummah to the world”.

Hoj Marvi also paid a visit to some Iarqi Mukibs (temporary stations for pilgrims services).

Imam Reza shrine has embarked on setting up 90 Mukibs in Iran and Iraq this year, and distributed some 10 million bottles of water among Arbaeen pilgrims.

Arbaeen, is a Shia religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura. It commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), who was martyred on the 10th day of the month of Muharram.
