Imam Reza shrine eases pilgrimage for people with disabilities

Imam Reza holy shrine has made Razavi pilgrimage of people with disabilities much easier, running its old public project giving pilgrimage services to the old and handicapped people of the city.

The project is held every week on Tuesdays enjoying participation of servants in the wheelchairs section of the holy shrine. Elderlies and handicapped people are identified through regional and local coordinators and regulators first and they are categorized into 80 to 100 person caravans for coming to the shrine then.

When arrived at Imam Reza holy shrine, people in these caravans receive a warm welcome from the Razavi male and female servants who come from different offices and they are provided with lots of various religious programs while doing their pilgrimage in the complex. All given services to these people are on Imam Reza shrine.

It is worth mentioning that based on some rubrics in the shrine’s endowment and donation documents, the complex offers special programs to some groups of people as well. Some of these special services include financing return of needy pilgrims to their home town, providing temporary accommodation in Mashhad, offering clothes to the poor, and giving medical services to those who are not able to afford their trip.
