Imam Reza’s negotiations, model for successful interfaith dialogue

The Custodian of Imam Reza shrine has stated that the negotiations of Imam Reza can be a good model for successful interfaith dialogue.

Speaking in the second International Congress of Imam Reza & Interfaith Dialogue, Hoj Ahmad Marvi, head of the shrine, emphasized that all divine faiths came to guide and develop human communities, saying: “What makes the monotheistic faiths to stand out is their lofty position”.

Stressing that monotheistic faiths paved the way for human communities to grow, he said that they are the unity factor among humanity and added: “Enemies and materialists first sought to discredit divine faiths, and then they went further in trying to depict faiths as the source of fights and disagreements”.

“During the past couple of decades, religious scholars talked seriously about monotheistic faiths and scientific meetings were held across the world; however, centuries ago, Imam Reza invited leaders of various faiths to debates and dialogues. He firmly stressed on interfaith dialogue”, continued the custodian.

Hoj Marvi noted that paying attention to the type, content, and negotiation style of Imam Reza could be a paragon for successful dialogue among faiths.

He further drew attention to the outcome of these meetings and said: “As emphasized by the Leader of the Revolution, the outcome of such dialogues has to be taken into account. As long as we take a scientific approach to these dialogues, we won’t face any hostility. However, the moment we want to put the results into practice across society, problems pop up”.

He concluded his remarks by urging that interfaith dialogue was the response to those who sought discord and hostility.
