The director of the al-Fadl Center for the preservation of heritage of the Department; Sayed Laith Lotfi, said that "the center's staff has begun the restoration of a set of Qurans belonging to the library of the Grand Mosque of Kufa, which dates back to the thirteenth century Hijri". He added that"the work of restoring the Qurans comes within the project adopted by the center to restore the manuscripts of government departments and public and private libraries, which came at the forefront of the library of the Grand Mosque of Kufa and the library of the Kadhemiya holy shrine". Lotfi added that "the library of the Kufa mosque included (500) heritage Qurans, which are currently being restored, as it takes about two months to restore one Qur'an, and then it is returned to the mosque secretariat to be preserved in their treasury and museum".
The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has begun the restoration of a collection of heritage Quranic Qurans dating back to the thirteenth century AH.
