Talking about the library and its services, Ali Zarabi, Deputy Planning and Cyberspace at the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Center said: “Over 3 million and 350 thousand resources including manuscripts, lithographs, periodicals, and more have been added to the digital library of Astan Quds Razavi. The highest number of digital resources from the organization pertains to historical documents. So far, more than four million documents have been scanned, and their digital versions are accessible to researchers. Additionally, there are 23 different databases in this library, including databases for manuscripts, lithographs, documents, photographs, printed books, and theses, among others”.
Zarabi added: “In-person services of the digital library are available at the Central Library of the holy shrine and at digital study rooms of Astan Quds Razavi in various educational and information centers across the country for those interested”.
“Users wishing to have access to the not-in-person services of this library may visit the digital library's website at https://digital.aqr.ir " where "document delivery" and "digital lending" are considered the most important not-in-person services”.
Zarabi further mentioned: “Online chat and communication with librarians for support services (online chat) and the chance for researchers to send digital resources to the library through the "Digital Resource Donation" system are other services provided on this digital library's website”.
Deputy Planning and Cyberspace at Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Document Center also said: “Users do not need to register for simple searching. However, to access document delivery and digital lending services, they need to register on the digital library's website; as of now, about 57,000 people have registered and become members of this library”.
Talking about new measures taken by the library, Zarabi said: “Establishing an "Audio Recording Room" for producing audiobooks, opening "Voice Resources of Razavi" database, and initiation of the "Special Office for Elites" services are some of new measures taken by the library”.
He went on to say: “Project of establishing a database for Islamic manuscript and digitization project of Islamic-Shia heritage, aimed at preserving this legacy and providing research services, is currently being pursued and implemented”.
Concluding his remarks, Zarabi stressed: “Smartening digital library involves launching a comprehensive document management and digital archiving system (switching the digital library software from Tebyan to Papyrus) and designing a mobile platform for the digital library (the comprehensive reading system) are among many programs followed for promoting library services”.
The Digital library of Astan Quds Razavi (AQR) started work in 2013 under the slogan of "Every home, a Razavi library," thanks to the efforts of Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Documents Center of Astan Quds Razavi.
