According to Mohammad Reza Rajabi Moqaddam, “The Turkish company will focus on sulfur processing, while the Afghan company will operate in food processing and exports to Central Asia”.
He noted that the investment is expected to be fully realized within two years.
Currently, 32 companies are active in the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone, while 235 companies are either under construction or pursuing procedures to become operational in the region.
The managing director also mentioned: “This year, Iranian companies have signed 48 contracts worth 25 trillion rials ($272m) to begin investments and activities in this economic zone.
Sarakhs Special Economic Zone, as a subsidiary of the Mofid Foundation, is located in the northeasternmost part of Iran, 185 kilometers northeast of Mashhad, bordering Turkmenistan. It is considered one of the country's major gateways for trade and foreign transit, particularly with Central Asian nations.
