During a meeting at Imam Reza Shrine on the occasion of the Imam’s birth anniversary (May 9), Ayat. Marvi welcomed the custodians of Imam Hussein and Kadhimayn shrines, highlighting the unprecedented scale of unity and mutual visits between Iranian and Iraqi shrine officials.
He added: “The collaboration is a symbol of solidarity between the two nations, and sacred shrines serve as essential cultural and religious pillars of the Islamic community. Therefore, strengthening ties among their custodians provides a foundation for further promoting Ahl al-Bayt teachings and enhancing pilgrimage services”.
Ayat. Marvi stressed that pilgrimage is not merely an act of worship for divine reward but an opportunity for deepening religious knowledge and faith. Quoting Imam Reza’s saying, “May God bless the servant who revives our cause,” he urged efforts to integrate Ahl al-Bayt’s teachings into daily life.
“Any disconnect between individual and social behavior with Imam Reza and Ahl al-Bayt’s culture stems from the ineffective transmission of their teachings. The transformative power of their words is guaranteed by the Imams themselves, yet their impact depends on proper dissemination”, he pointed out.
AQR’s Custodian also warned that Islam’s adversaries cannot tolerate the strong presence of people at sacred shrines. “Historically, rulers like Mutawakkil sought to destroy Imam Hussein shrine, recognizing its inspirational influence. While today’s enemies lack the ability to physically demolish these sites, they attempt to strip them of their spiritual essence, preventing people from benefiting from their divine teachings”.
In this context, the top official emphasized the necessity of unity between Iranian and Iraqi shrine officials to enhance religious awareness and facilitate pilgrimage. “Joint efforts, particularly in cultural and spiritual domains, can strengthen the transformative role of these sacred places in the lives of Muslims.”

Ayat. Ahmad Marvi, the Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi (AQR), believes that cooperation between the sacred shrines of Iran and Iraq plays a vital role in improving pilgrimage services, expanding religious teachings, and elevating the spiritual experience of visitors.
