IRIU to launch Cognitive Neuroscience Engineering undergraduate program

Permission to establish master's degree program in Cognitive Neuroscience Engineering has been issued for Imam Reza International University (IRIU) and the center is about to admit students in this new major, says, prof. Mohammad Ghorbanzadeh, university’s deputy chancellor for education and undergraduate studies.

 “The Higher Education Development Council of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology has issued permission to establish and admit students for master's degree program in Biomedical Engineering, with a major in "Cognitive Neuroscience Engineering," for Imam Reza International University,” Ghorbanzadeh said.
Stating that Biomedical Engineering program with a focus on Cognitive Neuroscience Engineering is only offered at Imam Reza International University and Iran University of Science and Technology, Ghorbanzadeh explained: “Cognitive Neuroscience Engineering is a new interdisciplinary specialization that encompasses various dimensions in the fields of Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Psychology, Rehabilitation, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, and is currently offered at a limited number of top universities worldwide”.
The deputy chancellor added: “In this program, graduates will become deeply familiar with how to apply engineering methods in examining mechanisms of the human nervous system and will gain required capabilities for expanding neural technologies in diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation”.
According to Ghorbanzadeh, obtaining permission for mission-oriented and applied majors needed by Astan Quds Razavi and the society are among key goals of the university. “It is hoped that university's actions will be ultimately in line with upstream documents of the country's higher education system”.
Biomedical Engineering Department of IRIU admits students in Biomedical Engineering for bachelor's program and in Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Bioelectronics and Biomedical Engineering with a specialization in Cognitive Neuroscience Engineering at master's program for both male and female students.
