AQR’s museum, Uzbekistan National Museum explore avenues for cooperation

A delegation from Astan Quds Razavi’s (AQR) Scientific and Cultural Organization visited Uzbekistan National Museum to discuss potential museum collaborations.

Hoj. Seyed Jalal Hosseini, head of Astan Quds Razavi’s Libraries, Museums, and Documents Organization, along with his accompanying delegation, paid a visit to Uzbekistan’s cultural and academic institutions.
AQR’s delegation visited Uzbekistan National Museum (Tashkent History Museum) and met with its director, Jannat, to explore avenues for cooperation.
During the meeting, Hoj. Hosseini outlined the potential for joint initiatives between Astan Quds Razavi and Uzbekistan National Museum.
He proposed organizing a “Silk Road” exhibition in collaboration with the Tashkent museum, emphasizing, “There are deep historical ties between Iran and Uzbekistan, and such an exhibition would help familiarize the public with the shared heritage of both nations”.
The meeting also included discussions on a draft memorandum of understanding for museum cooperation, with both sides exchanging views on future collaborations.
As a gesture of goodwill, the AQR delegation presented images of rare manuscripts, including “Al-Hashaish” by Dioscorides, “Taqwim al-Sihha” by Ibn Butlan, and “Muhitiya” by Ghiyath al-Din Jamshid Kashani, to the director of Uzbekistan National Museum. In return, the Uzbek side gifted replicas of select museum artifacts and a museum catalog to the visiting delegation.
The visit concluded with a tour of various sections of the Tashkent History Museum, where the Iranian delegation explored its extensive collection.
Uzbekistan National Museum, established in 1943, houses 350,000 historical artifacts spanning from prehistoric times to the 20th century. Its exhibition halls feature collections from Kushan, Buddhist, and Sogdian civilizations, as well as displays on Samanids, Ghaznavids, Qarakhanids, Ilkhanids, Timurids, Uzbeks, and the Khanate of Bukhara.
