On the occasion of Imam Javad’s martyrdom anniversary, the sacred precincts of Imam Reza Shrine, in northeast Iran, have been enveloped in an atmosphere of grief and reverence. Black banners are fluttering throughout the shrine premises, and a large black flag has been raised atop the dome as a sign of mourning.
The shrine’s courtyards, including Enghelab, Azadi, Goharshad, and Jomhuri Eslami, have been decorated with black inscriptions, while mourning symbols are seen everywhere, in the entrances, corridors, and the area surrounding the Panjereh Fulad (Steel Window).
Servants of the shrine, dressed in mourning attire, are actively assisting pilgrims and mourners, creating a deeply spiritual and solemn atmosphere. The sound of elegies and lamentations echoes throughout the shrine as visitors, with tearful eyes, rush for prayers and mourning rituals in remembrance of Imam Javad.
