Special programs for non-Iranian pilgrims at Imam Reza Shrine have been announced in celebration of the ten--day festivity.
Throughout this period, multiple cultural and religious events will be held, including choral performances, speeches, eulogies, and cultural competitions.
The Office for Non-Iranian Pilgrims’ Affairs will host celebratory gatherings, ensuring an engaging experience for visitors.
One of the key events is the Banoye Alavi (literally meaning ‘Women followers of Imam Ali’) celebration, dedicated to Urdu-speaking female pilgrims, scheduled for June 12, at 16:45 in Ghadir Portico. The program will feature group recitations, speeches, religious teachings, cultural competitions, and the distribution of blessed gifts.
Additionally, the Banovan Velayi (literally referring to female followers of spiritual and religious leadership of Wilayah) conference will be held for Arabic-speaking women from Bahrain, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia on June 11, at 16:30 in Dar al-Rahmah Portico. The event will include lectures on Ahl al-Bayt teachings, a children’s workshop, the final round of the Ghadir sermon memorization contest, and eulogies.
For Azeri-speaking pilgrims, the Gohar-e Velayat program will take place on June 11, at 16:00 in Mellal Portico, offering a platform for intellectual discussions and cultural engagement.
These programs aim to enhance the spiritual experience of non-Iranian pilgrims, fostering unity and devotion during the ten-Day event.
Wilayah celebrations refer to a period in the Islamic calendar dedicated to honoring the spiritual leadership (Wilayah) of Imam Ali and the concept of divinely appointed leadership in Shia Islam. This celebration begins on the first of Dhu al-Hijjah (the 12th and final month of the Islamic lunar calendar), and continues until the tenth of Dhu al-Hijjah, which coincides with Eid al-Adha.
During these ten days, various religious and cultural events take place, including lectures, recitations, poetry, and ceremonies that emphasize the significance of Imam Ali’s leadership and the continuation of divine guidance through the Ahl al-Bayt. The celebrations culminate with Eid al-Ghadir, observed on the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah, marking the event of Ghadir Khumm, where Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) declared Imam Ali as his successor.

A raft of cultural and religious events has been planned for non-Iranian pilgrims to celebrate Wilayah ten-day event at Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran.
