Shrine reopens historic Do-Dar School following six months of reconstruction

Following six months of reconstruction, Imam Reza holy shrine reopens historic Do-Dar School in a special ceremony with custodian of the complex, Hoj. Ahmad Marvi, in attendance.

Addressing the ceremony, Mostafa Feizi, deputy custodian of the holy shrine, said: “In the decree of Ayatollah Khamenei regarding custodianship of Astan Quds Razavi, paying attention to historical buildings, works, and religious heritage in the holy shrine has been highlighted; as a result, all capacities, time, energy, and resources of Astan Quds Razavi were mobilized to restore and renovate this magnificent place”.
Continuing his remarks, Feizi also stated: “The Do-Dar School project is only one of many projects underway at the holy shrine of Imam Reza. Other projects include underground project of Sheikh Bahaei, relocation of the minaret of Jomhuri Eslami courtyard, construction of the courtyard of Amir al-Momenin (AS)”.
He further noted: “Considering emphasis of the custodian on realizing the intentions of benefactors and donors, activities of this school will continue to be dedicated to Quranic affairs”.
Also in the same ceremony, Khalilolah Kazemi, head of the Organization for Construction and Maintenance of the Holy Shrine highlighted the technical and operational details of this project, stating: “Restoration, revival, and care for historical and civilizational artifacts are cultural necessities pursued with utmost seriousness and sensitivity in Astan Quds Razavi”.
Kazemi added: “The historic Do-Dar School is a structure from the Timurid era, with the facade and decorations belonging to this period. Restoration and correction of this school began at the beginning of September 2024 and the modernization process took 6 months. In this operation, the school's roof was modified to improve its views as well”.
Referring to the emphasis of custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, he further noted: “According to the directive of custodianship of Astan Quds Razavi, we tried to restore the building of this school according to its original construction and architecture, which dates back to the Timurid period”.
The official brought his remarks to end saying, “The current status of the school has been documented, and more than 600 pages of documents regarding the events of this school have been written that will be published in the near future”.
